There are so many more tools and much more functionality available that simply doesn't exist in Elements, and that are 16 bit.
I also have Elements 11 on my Mac and it is simply a night a day difference in capabilities. Is PSP X5 better than Elements 11? If so, in what way?
Will Corel port PSP X6 to the Mac? Probably not. Never thought I would see both running together on the same desktop. Here's a screenshot of both running together. Every tool I am using is also 16 bit which was a definite requirement. Paint Shop Pro is by far the most capable image editor you can buy next to Photoshop and is an unbelievably amazing value at around the $30-50 price range it sells at. Feel free to post any questions as I'd be happy to help others avoid buying Photoshop. The total cost for a Windows 8 OEM system builder's DVD and Parallels 8 was $140 through B&H Photo, which was surprisingly the cheapest prices I could find. So far, as I look for a solution to the former, I am simply opening the folder within Paint Shop Pro's organizer and simply manually opening the newly created file from Lightroom there.

On the bright side communication from within Paint Shop Pro once you manually open the image file, edit and save it works flawlessly showing an immediate update in Lightroom. Unfortunately, so far, Lightroom will open Paint Shop Pro but the image file will not open. I have also been testing Paint Shop Pro with Lightroom 5 as an external editor by bringing up the "edit in" option. It's an amazingly impressive job that the makers of Parallels have done. So far I have not run into any bugs at all. Access speeds to drives and read and write times appear the same in Windows with the Mac's Fusion Drive. Clipboard/copy and paste works between both OSs as does drag and drop. All external drives are shared and the entire process is seamless. Windows 8 boots up in 6-7 seconds and Mac apps can be opened from Windows and Windows apps can be opened in OS X.

Not only that but Windows 8 can read and write to my Mac formatted drives without any other software needed, which was a very unexpected surprise. The speed of Paint Shop Pro running through Parallels is impressive and much more than I expected. Just wanted to let it be known in case someone was looking for an alternative to the expense of Photoshop that the recently installed Parallels 8/Windows 8 and Paint Shop Pro X5 on my new iMac are working beautifully.
